“It’s R&B meets rock-pop, it’s gospel soul meets synthesizers”
Little India’s upcoming, debut album is everything you would expect to hear from a group that mastered their craft during the transition into modern music. While having an urge to harmonize modernity with the romance of music’s earlier decades, Little India affirms that there is still an art in album writing and are inviting people to understand their story through music.
Jon Sidall (CBC Music) explains their nostalgic yet dance-forward sound as “The Cure meets Talking Heads.” With distant heartbreak and mental warfare to reassuring themes of sexuality and self-actualization, diversity is clear in their taste, and imperative for the listener to fully connect with the bands’ wide array of influences and lyrical content. It’s R&B meets rock-pop, it’s gospel soul meets synthesizers; Little India is a band who's ready to give you something you’re not expecting.
Their explosive success began after soft releasing their debut EP, Up All Night, in 2013. Their EP quickly found organic success, gaining international radio play and winning both ‘The Shore 104.3 FM’s Best of BC’ and ‘CFOX’s Seeds Competition’ in 2014. Little India followed up with 2 more EPs in the years after, allowing them to ascend into the top 12 of the 2015 "Peak Performance Project" hosted by The Peak 102.7. They continue to prove their tenacity through self-managing and producing all of their projects. This stemmed further opportunities like touring across Canada and through the UK, headlining large venues and playing major festivals, supporting established acts like Kodaline & Cold War Kids, and organically reaching six million total streams on Spotify.
After years of growth and experience, the band embarked on a mission to create the album they've always wanted, chasing inspiration and fortifying their story by temporarily moving their lives across the world to Europe. Today, after two years, they've done exactly that.
Little India has grown beside their fans on such a personal level that people are genuinely eager for the next chapter. They’ve reached a point in their musicality that they’ve never experienced before and are ready to debut that to the world through this album. Little India has produced a record that you will be eager to have spinning on your turntable.
